Application Deadline 08 August 2025 (extended)MissionYou will coordinate IUCN's Forest and Congo Basin Ecoregion Programme, manage a portfolio of multi-million, multi-donor initiatives, and contribute to regional and global forest conservation strategies. As a senior technical and strategic leader, you will ensure high-impact delivery aligned with IUCN's "One Programme" approach.ResponsibilitiesProgramme Leadership
- Design and lead strategic development of regional forest initiatives.
- Provide technical support in forest conservation, restoration, and livelihoods.
- Ensure systematic monitoring and effective communication of lessons learned.
- Represent the region in IUCN's Global Forest Team for global strategy alignment.
- Oversee technical and financial performance of the forest programme.
- Develop budgets and work plans, and ensure compliance with IUCN and donor policies.
- Support cross-cutting initiatives within the region.
- Build strategic collaborations with local and international partners.
- Lead proposal writing and donor engagement.
- Ensure strong involvement of IUCN members in programme execution.
- Represent IUCN in key regional and global forest and FLR forums.
- Promote IUCN's thought leadership and relevance on emerging forest issues.
- Supervise and develop programme staff.
- Foster coherent messaging and technical consistency across teams.
- Master's degree minimum in environmental sciences, forest sciences, or natural resource management.
- 8+ years relevant experience including 5 years at international level.
- Proven leadership in nature conservation and FLR programmes.
- Strong project management and donor relationship experience.
- Multicultural team leadership and strategic thinking capacity.
- Fluency in English and French required.
- Strong computer and reporting skills.
