Application Deadline 08 August 2025 (extended)MissionYou will coordinate IUCN's Forest and Congo Basin Ecoregion Programme, manage a portfolio of multi-million, multi-donor initiatives, and contribute to regional and global forest conservation strategies. As a senior technical and strategic leader, you will ensure high-impact delivery aligned with IUCN's "One Programme" approach.ResponsibilitiesProgramme Leadership
  • Design and lead strategic development of regional forest initiatives.
  • Provide technical support in forest conservation, restoration, and livelihoods.
  • Ensure systematic monitoring and effective communication of lessons learned.
  • Represent the region in IUCN's Global Forest Team for global strategy alignment.
Programme Management
  • Oversee technical and financial performance of the forest programme.
  • Develop budgets and work plans, and ensure compliance with IUCN and donor policies.
  • Support cross-cutting initiatives within the region.
Partnerships & Fundraising
  • Build strategic collaborations with local and international partners.
  • Lead proposal writing and donor engagement.
  • Ensure strong involvement of IUCN members in programme execution.
Visibility & Representation
  • Represent IUCN in key regional and global forest and FLR forums.
  • Promote IUCN's thought leadership and relevance on emerging forest issues.
Team Management
  • Supervise and develop programme staff.
  • Foster coherent messaging and technical consistency across teams.
RequirementsEducation
  • Master's degree minimum in environmental sciences, forest sciences, or natural resource management.
Experience
  • 8+ years relevant experience including 5 years at international level.
  • Proven leadership in nature conservation and FLR programmes.
  • Strong project management and donor relationship experience.
  • Multicultural team leadership and strategic thinking capacity.
  • Fluency in English and French required.
  • Strong computer and reporting skills.
